1987, former AP Middle East Correspondent, Steve Hindy and banker Tom Porter quit their day jobs and started the Brooklyn Brewery. In 1989 they got their first truck and with a small team of salesman they began peddling Brooklyn Lager in the streets of New York. Garret Oliver, Brew master, and the staff at Brooklyn Brewing have grown the company from being the first successful commercial brewery in New York City to one of the country’s top 40 breweries in the U.S. today.
