Pouring a gorgeous sunbeam yellow with a cumulus-cloud white head that dissipates to a slight skiff, grassy-earthy aromas greet the nose in this summer offering. A sturdy bitterness comes on strong at first sip, with a slight sweetness sneaking in near the middle. A drying astringency and a lingering bitterness enter at the finish line, enticing you to take another sip. A great beer to pair with summer activities — and summertime foods such as barbecue, seafood and salads.

Blue Moon began in 1995 at the Sandlot in Denver, Colorado. The goal was to create uniquely-flavored , highly-drinkable, handcrafted beers. And… have a little fun along the way. Well, it didn’t take long to strike gold. One of our first creations, Belgian White make an immediate splash at the World Beer Championships 3 years in a row.

More than a decade later, word has started getting around. But otherwise not has much changed. Still just a bunch of friends having fun making great beer. Blue Moon is offered in: Belgian White, Spring Blonde Wheat, Summer Honey Wheat, Harvest Pumpkin, Winter Abbey Ale, Pale Moon and special occasion flavors like Grand Cru.

In 1919, beer was banned. Barrels were broken. Breweries went belly up. Drinking a beer became an act of protest against those in power. Each toast was a citizen’s demand to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. When beer became legal again 14 years later, it was never the same. That is, until a few years ago when we discovered an old beer recipe in the basement archives of the brewery dating back before Prohibition. Batch 19™ is inspired by the last batches of beer brewed before 1919.
