O&W 1st Annual Home Brew Contest…Let the games begin!
There is no better way to learn about beer than to brew it, after all, it’ s not quite as easy as it might seem. So in true O&W style, we all threw our hats in the ring and as the snow piled up high this past January, we retreated to the warmth of our kitchens and brewed beer. It was quite a learning process.
The Sales Department split up into 5 teams of 5 to 6 people each and were armed with a Sam Adams Brew Kit which included the basic materials needed to brew a Pale Ale. Shortly after we got the brew kits, we took a trip to the Michigan Brewing Company Brewery for a tour and the teams each picked up extra ingredients for their recipes. The task was to brew and bottle your own style of beer, create a label and name for the masterpiece, and have it ready by April 1st for judging.
The entries were: Dutch Rudder Pale Ale, Breakfast of Champions Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal Stout, Red Rocket Irish Red, Celestial Stout Espresso Chocolate Stout and Pull Out Pale Ale. As you can see, each team has their own style!
